WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Rescue 2008 - Warnemünde and Berlin, Germany July 2008
Manly LSC sent a team of six women, three men, two managers and two Masters to the 2008 World Surf Life Saving Championships in Warnemünde on the northern coast of Germany.
Warnemünde, in the old East Germany, has a long deep beach; with no surf while the team was there except for the bow waves from ships entering Rostock Harbour.
Before the Interclub Championships were the Masters and International competitions. The weather was changeable - 10 degrees for the Masters and the next week 30 degrees for the interclub competition. The water temperature was 19 degrees.

By the end of all these wonderful results over a 10 day period Naomi was all competed out!

Murray Stewart - World Champion Men’s Ski
Murray turned the final can, 300 metres off shore, on the outside of the defending world champion, Nick Crilly, and just powered away to win by 50 metres with no surf. His European training worked well.
Nick Dawe comfortably made the final but was caught behind another competitor whose ski became caught in the can ropes.

Emma Davey came 7th in the final of the Woman’s surf race.
Women’s beach relay team of Jo, Bec, Rique and Emma just missed the final with a 4th in the semi final.
Rique and Jo came 5th in the Board rescue final.
Sam, Bec, Jo and Rique came 8th in the Oceanwoman relay
Sam Tier had a strong showing in the beach flags being the last to be eliminated in the strongest heat which included 3 of the last 4 in the final. Sam just missed the last 20 left to compete in two semis.
The Taplin relay team of Sam Tier, Nick Dawe, Scott Crawford and Murray Stewart came in 8th and were eliminated in their heat.
