Manly Wharf Hotel Ocean Swim
One of the epic swims which forms part of the Australian east coast ocean swims circuit, the Manly Wharf Hotel Ocean Swim is a community event run in conjunction with the Australian Ocean Swimming Championships and comprises a 2.2km course.
The 2008 Manly Wharf Hotel Ocean Swim was held on Sunday 24 February
2008 and included a 1 km swim for Novice and Nipper swimmers. Over 600 swimmers participated.
The awesome venue provides a spectacularly beautiful ocean swim, covering several reefs including Fairy Bower and Manly point, which form part of the Cabbage Tree Bay Sea-life Sanctuary.
The start of the swim negotiates the surf in the southern corner of Manly and then heads out to Fairy Bower, it then cuts back onto Shelly Beach, follows the bay, and returns back to the start point through the surf at Manly Beach. The Manly Scenic Walkway follows the majority of the swim. Viewing points for spectators include Manly Point, Fairy Bower headland, Shelly and Manly Beaches and the scenic walkway. This swim is the most visibly beautiful and memorable of its kind with the amazing sea-life and underwater rock formations a major attraction.
Proudly brought to you by the Manly Wharf Hotel, Manly Life Saving Club and supported by The Manly Daily, Harris Farm Markets and Manly Council.
